Oscar Week Feature - Actor Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey safely shed approximately 50 pounds to play Ron Woodroof, his Oscar nominated role in the film Dallas Buyer’s Club. The Texas-born McConaughey remains an appealing, talented actor who unfortunately still gets the bachelor/beach bum stereotype. On the surface, It’s easy to imagine that a guy like Matthew McConaughey could live an adventurous, care-free lifestyle without any household responsibilities, but he has presented much more.

He has really built up great momentum for these hopeful win with recent films like Wolf of Wall Street, Mud, Bernie, Magic Mike, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Killer Joe. His next roles include Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and a rumored Magic Mike sequel. He’s currently starring in the True Detective TV series with Woody Harrelson.
McConaughey rose to fame for his character charisma in the 1993 star making, coming-of-age film Dazed and Confused as Dave Wooderson then hit superstardom three years later in the crime thriller A Time to Kill, based on the best selling John Grisham book, which co-starred current Oscar nominee Sandra Bullock.

Later came roles in Amistad, Contact, The Wedding Planner, Reign of Fire (with current nominee Christian Bale), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the failed franchise starter Sahara (based on another popular book series), We Are Marshall, Failure to Launch, Fool’s Gold, the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder (filling in for Owen Wilson), Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and The Newton Boys with his brother Rooster McConaughey.
