David O. Russell featured for Oscar week

“There's nothing better than an actor who is really, really hungry to show everything they've got.”

Fifty five year old director David O Russell was born in New York and the son of actor Matthew Russell and producer/actress Janet Grillo. Russell rose to fame directing the stunningly visual 1999 Iraq war action-drama film Three Kings and definitely has a knack for getting great acting performances. His latest film Silver Linings Playbook represents every acting category with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver. Russell’s previous film The Fighter also completed an acting trifecta with Christian Bale (who won for Best Supporting Actor), Amy Adams, and Melissa Leo (who also won for best supporting actress). Russell is nominated for director and screenwriter for Silver Linings Playbook.

Look for Russell’s next directed/written film aptly titled Nailed (I won’t spoil the premise) starring Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhall, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, Kirstie Alley, James Brolin, Paul Reubens, Tracy Morgan, and Jon Stewart.
