The summer movie schedule always creates excitement for me, but this year audience will get action fatigue giving more original films like Peter Hedges’ The Odd Life of Timothy Green (August 15), Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom (May 25) and Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love (June 22) a fighting chance. Here are my summer movie top 10 list and my top 10 summer box office predictions (release dates subject to change):

1. Marvel's The Avengers (May 4) – Superheroes unite! What could be better?
2. Men in Black 3 (May 25) – Time travel and Tommy Lee (…Jones that is) matching with Josh Brolin’s amazing impersonation as the younger agent K.
…now for two double movie weekends with the first on June 9th…
3. Prometheus – Director Ridley Scott returns to sci-fi with an all star cast and Alien subject matter.
4. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – An animated animal fest for the children…and for laughs.
…and now for June 22
5. Brave – This Scotland tale is part of our Disney/Pixar summer movie tradition.
6. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World – Steve Carell and Keira Knightley find comedy, drama and romance.
7. The Dark Knight Rises (July 20) – Batman’s curtain closes for Christopher Nolan’s film trilogy.
…now I’m double booked again on August 3!
8. The Bourne Legacy – Jeremy Renner and the returning support cast continue this strong series.
9. Total Recall – Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessical Biel will shine with the meaty plot and amazing direction from Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard).
10. Hope Springs (August 10) – Steve Carell again as a relationship guru with married couple Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep attending his weekend seminar.

- Ice Age: Continental Drift (July 13) – The all-star voice cast returns with new additions including Jennifer Lopez as this animated film series hits its fourth installment.
- The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3) – The web slinger reboots again, but Sam Raimi’s trilogy will be tough to top (remembering that amazing Spider-Man 2 premiere at the Showcase Maumee in 2004)

- Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted
- Battleship (May 18) – Naval battle board game combined with giant alien mechs for entertainment that makes things go boom!...plus an early slot will help grab more dough from moviegoers before that get that action movie fatigue.
